Indian High Commission recognizes service by Indo-Canadians

High Commission of India in Ottawa announces certificates of recognition for eminent members of Indo-Canadian Community

The High Commission of India in Canada announced today a list of Indo-Canadians who have been honoured for their contributions to the Indian nationals and the Indo-Canadian community in Canada. A press release issued by the High Commission named13 recipients of the High Commissioner’s Certificate of Recognition in honour of their exemplary service to the Indian community in Canada and contribution to deepening the friendly relations between India and Canada. 

In a tweet, the High Commission said that it recognizes diaspora contribution to Indo-Canadian Community, Indian Students & Canadian society at large, by Recognition Certificate to individuals & organizations.  @HCI_Ottawa is pleased to announce awardees this year. Congrats to all recipients.

The release further said that the organizations and individuals so being recognized displayed exemplary dedication and commitment to the service of Indians, including students in Canada, the Indo-Canadian community and Canadian society at large. Their work reflects the cherished Indian ethos of service, ‘sewa’, and represents the best qualities of the vibrant Indo-Canadian community in Canada. The High Commission is proud to recognize their work.

The High Commissioner’s Certificate of Recognition is awarded on the occasion of India’s national days (Republic Day, Independence Day and Gandhi Jayanti) every year to community organizations and individuals who have displayed exceptional service for the welfare of Indians and people of Indian heritage in Canada, thereby contributing to the promotion of understanding and amity between the peoples of India and Canada.
